Calculate your exact position size, dollar risk, and reward ratio before entering any trade.
Position Size — The number of units, shares, or contracts to buy. This is calculated so you only risk the exact dollar amount you're comfortable losing, no matter what the price is.
Dollar Risk — Your account size × risk percentage. If your account is $10,000 and you risk 1%, your max loss per trade is $100.
Risk/Reward (R:R) — How much you could win vs. how much you could lose. A 1:2 R:R means you risk $100 to make $200. Most professional traders require at least 1:2 before entering a trade.
The 1–2% Rule — Never risk more than 1–2% of your account on a single trade. This keeps you in the game even after a string of losses.
